Meet Ma

Ma is the base camp for, and wife of Dogman, who is currently hiking the Appalachian Trail.

We met Ma at the trailhead of Beaver Brook after hiking Moosilauke. What drew us to her was the old paddy wagon she was standing next to. The outside was covered in signatures by all of the people she and Dogman have met along the way.

Dogman decided to hike the AT after his daughter thru hiked a few years prior. After finding an old police vehicle (van) for sale they decided to buy it and convert it into a tiny house on wheels.

In February they took to the road and by March, Dogman was on the trail heading NoBo (northbound) from Georgia with their dog. Ma has driven the entire way back to New England with him while he continues his journey to Katahdin.

Ma says that being in the road has lead her to meet some really great people, in fact she said there hasn’t been anyone she’s met so far who hasn’t been nice! We all agreed that hiking and this community has restored our faith in humanity. 

After Dogman concludes his journey on the AT they plan to take their tiny home cross country and to continue the amazing journey they are on!
