Meet Shine, Special, and Shade

Meet Shine, Special, and Shade! We had the pleasure of meeting this trio right before they headed to the local restaurant for some town food!

Shine ( shortened from sunshine) has hiked the ADK 46, the Foothills Trail, and is now working on the AT. As a teenager she did a 3/4 backpacking trip and fell in love! She said the AT has been a dream of hers for 10 years! Her sage advice: “ You have to try or you’ll wonder your whole life. You have to feel the fear and then feel it get put behind you!”

Special is originally of Mass but currently lives on in CO. He has section hiked the Colorado Trail and when he learned about tru hikers he became obsessed! From YouTube videos to books he got his hands on any content about thru hiking! Now he was watching his dream become a reality!

Shade is here from Florida and has hiked the AT from Georgia to New York before but is now looking to hike all the way thru. She did a lot of day hiking as a kid with her family and spent a lot of time car camping. She says the next step was doing a thru hike and here she is almost to that finish line!
