Meet Average Guy
Meet Average Guy - coming all the way from Harpers Ferry! Average Guy gave himself his trail name because he thought people would get a chuckle out of hearing him being called that on trail, and he was right! When he came sauntering down the path and another member of his trail family yelled out, “hey, there’s that average guy!”, we couldn’t help but laugh!
Average Guy spent his summers at a family house in Maine; he credits his father to instilling his love for the wilderness and mountains in him. At a mere 8-years old, his father took him along with his brother to hike Tuckerman’s Ravine! They spent a lot of their summers hiking in the White Mountains, eventually summiting all 48 4000ft mountains in New Hampshire!
So, why the AT? As a kid he fondly remembers meeting thru-hikers and being in awe of the challenge they had set out for themselves - he said these meetings planted the seed all those years ago. At age 23, his brother hiked the AT SoBo and as time went on, Average Guy felt as though his chance to thru-hike was over, until… He began hearing about older people completing the AT, and his childhood dream was reignited! Average Guy, you are anything BUT average, and we are so happy you didn’t let age stop you from living your life out and following your dreams!
Cheers to you and your journey towards Katahdin!
Not just another Average Guy!
