Meet Money $tache
Meet Money $tache! This is the same mustache he sported when he hiked the PCT and it’s evident why it became his trail name… look at the twist on that thang!
Money $tache lives in Texas but originally he is from Missouri. He was a pediatric nurse and became a charge nurse and worked his tail off to pay off a house. After putting his body through so much stress he unfortunately developed shingles at the age of 36. For all of September 2016, he was bed ridden. Then something miraculous happened…
Back home in Missouri, he spent a week on his family farm, in a tree, and realized nature was his peaceful place as a child- he longed for it, he needed it. He started to research the different long trails, quit his job and began hiking the CDT.
Then Covid hit, and his plans changed. Because of the shortage of nurses, he left the trail and went back to work as a nurse.
Money $tache is now away from the medical field, and finds himself in the woods, hiking the Appalachian Trail. He says he trying to figure out what he wants to do next and the trail is the best place to figure it out!
It was a pleasure to spend an afternoon fueling and chatting with this awesome human. We hope you find everything you’re looking for on the trail, and continue to follow your heart!
